For some reason yesterday, I decided to do an oil painting. I just jumped in with no prep and painted on some masonite that I hadn't even put gesso on. It was pretty enjoyable although I found myself thinking digitally a couple of times. Saying to myself, "it's going to take 5 minutes to fix that now and it would have only taken a minute in photoshop." Best moment had to be me beginning to raise my left hand to go for a touch strip to zoom back from my painting. Hah hah. Stand up and walk backwards is so complicated!

The molten blade erupts from it when being held by the owner. Illustration for New Gods of Mankind. To see more of my work visit [link].

Edit: Decided to re-visit this today and changed a lot so I've moved it to the digital section now.

I've done a good job of saving in steps lately but I managed to miss saving any steps on the hand. It's probably not as detailed as you think. The scaly look was done by using a custom brush by a guy named Nagel. If you do an internet search, I'm sure you can find it. He has lots of free photoshop brushes. Some of them are good if you tweak them.
